Our philosophy
At Wallflower, we believe music is a journey of patience and delight. Students learn best when teaching is observant, encouraging, and thoughtfully paced. We aim to create a space where children can build strong foundations in technique, music literacy, musicianship, and artistry while also developing confidence and independence at the piano.
We are especially drawn to teachers who understand that excellent teaching is both disciplined and gentle—teachers who can hold high standards while nurturing curiosity, trust, and joy in the learning process.

We are currently looking for piano instructors who:
Enjoy working with children and young beginners
Have strong piano training and a solid musical foundation
Believe in helping students become independent and confident musicians

Are comfortable teaching technique, note reading, rhythm, and basic music theory
An openness to collaborate and grow alongside like-minded instructors

Position details
At Wallflower, we focus on building meaningful, long-term relationships with students and families through consistent, high-quality music instruction and a shared commitment to long-term artistic growth.
Wallflower Music Studio currently offers piano lessons for students ages 5 and up at the beginner and intermediate levels. Lessons will be held in our studio, serving families throughout Catonsville, Columbia, and Ellicott City. Sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis, reflecting the recurring availability of both the instructor and the family. Instructors should also be available for regular studio check-ins, recitals, and other studio events.
Lessons are rooted primarily in classical piano study while allowing room for curiosity, creativity, and exposure to a variety of musical styles. Instructors should be comfortable guiding students in both foundational skill-building and expressive music-making.
We are building a studio culture that values musical excellence, thoughtful pedagogy, and genuine kindness. As Wallflower grows, we remain committed to keeping lessons personal, warm, and rooted in the philosophy families have come to trust.
